Title: HPS2 Member-Nominated Trustees
Post by: John Ratsey on April 28, 2017, 02:42:32 PM
Members of HPS2 should have received a mailshot from the Pensions Team which includes requests for nominations for member-nominated trustees and also describes the selection process.

However, the mailshot fails to mention that it's the company which selects from among the nominations. The page numbered 2 in the HPS Accounts to 30 June 2016 (available from the Halcrow Pensions website (when it works) ) states "The Principal Employer may at any time, by deed, appoint one or more persons or a body corporate (whether or not a trust corporation) to be a new Trustee (in place of a person who ceases to be Trustee for any reason) or an additional Trustee. The Principal Employer may also at any time, by deed, remove any of the Trustees from office. This rule is subject to such of the provisions of sections 241-243 of the Pensions Act 2004 ad the Occupations Pension schemes (Member-nominated Trustees and Directors) Regulations 2006 as may apply to it from time to time."

So the likelihood of anyone who puts pension scheme members above the company getting selected is small.
