As an aside from pensions – I'm heavily into diabetes, my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 (ie insulin) 30 years ago. In her spare time she is a co-writer of an award winning diabetes blog that is internationally recognised. www.shootuporputup.co.uk which is black humour saying take the insulin injections ie shootup or you die ie putup.
Sadly, in some developing countries care for some kids with diabetes is very poor resulting in unnecessary early death esp. if the parents can't afford the insulin; or people with diabetes not developing their full career potential. Tim, the blogs co-writer is raising funds for the Pendsey Trust by riding the C2C route along Hadrian's Wall – dressed as a Roman soldier !
