Meetings
Gardening Club
The Gardening Club is a loose association of mainly ex-irrigation staff and was originally founded at Newcombe House. It now meets twice a year in the Wiltshire area for a walk and lunch.
The next Gardening Club meeting will take place on Wednesday 25th April. The 5 mile walk around Walbury Hill, Combe Gibbet (Google it) and Inkpen Beacon will commence from the Crown & Garter (http://www.crownandgarter.co.uk/) car park at 10.45am. Lunch will be in the Crown & Garter at about 13.30. Contact Malcolm Bennett (mburtonb at hotmail dot com) if you would like to join this occasion.
Caledonian Reunion
The Northern based element of Halcrow pensioners propose to hold their third biennial reunion lunch:
Where: The Royal Over-Seas League, 100 Princes St, Edinburgh, EH2 3AB (Convenient to Waverley Station)
When: Sat 6th October 2012 at 12.30pm
Cost: Approx. £35 inc. welcoming drink
A room with an outlook over Princes St and to Edinburgh Castle has been provisionally booked for that date.
We wish to widen the invitation to all pensioners and partners or any interested parties and make an assessment of likely numbers. We propose to invite speakers from the HPS Trustees and/or Halcrow/CH2M Hill.
Naturally, the invitation extends to all pensioners whether or not based in the North and suggest that a day or two in Edinburgh could make an interesting break. Edinburgh has a wide choice of accommodation listed on the visitscotland.com web site and low season rates should apply.
This event is not intended to compete with the larger biennual event held in alternate years in the Southern Regions but to complement it.
Please register interest preferably by email by end - May with contact details to either:
